So this week on CSI: Miami they had a CSI: NY cameo by Gary Sinise (Mac Taylor). It really looks like CSI: NY is struggling badly if they have to resort to a guest spot on the Horatio show, hah.
The thing with CSI: NY is that Taylor is just such a dick sometimes with his acting. The propaganda doesn’t help either… Remember when Taylor got all teary eyed as he looked over ground zero? Or when he started talking about the great firemen and police officers who died there? I’ve got nothing against honouring the dead but he just does it too much and really pushes it with the constant injections of “America is the greatest”. I know it’s probably not him personally doing this but that just means the writer is horrible.
Out of the three CSI shows, New York has the lowest ratings. Its also been shifted around the most in time slots. Did I mention that this weeks episode of CSI: Miami was a two-parter and concluded on CSI: NY? Yes, they did it. They had to resort to cheap tricks during the November sweeps in hope to try and save this horrid show. Sad, sad, sad.
Gary Sinise was good as Lieutenant Dan but not as Detective Mac Taylor. His character is dense and just seems really full of it — all the time — ! Oh, he wears a USA flag pin on his collar in every episode too… you know, for when he’s not getting teary eyed about America. I think this picture explains a lot.
If they want to up the ratings and save the show, they need to kill off Mac Taylor and have the team investigate it.

I haven’t worked on the video system in awhile but I promise I will! Frawlik is undergoing a few cosmetic changes once again because the featured articles section just doesn’t look right.
It’s kind of scary when Google has a 256bit encryption system for their websites while most banks only carry 128bits.

Anyway, DJ Drew is cool. Too bad the Canucks have been losing though, his choice in music is well… rad. HE PLAYED THE POPCORN SONG.
I really want to watch Jarhead and or Get Rich or Die Trying – The 50 Cent Story. Also! Shannon died on Lost, or did she?

This build features the new name “Windows Live Messenger” instead of the last build’s “Messenger”. Almost exactly the same appearance-wise on the contact list.
Now as for the messaging window, it seems there’s some neat new features which they’ve ported over from Yahoo Messenger and ICQ. Offline messaging apparently works but I have yet to test it and it seems to be capable of messaging under “Appear Offline” though that feature remains dormant at this stage.
Thank god, the buttons are now smaller. Notice the display picture box now looks better.

Well basically, I need a new laptop for class. My budget is up to $1700Canadian (taxes not included). Good ole RESPs.
What system would you suggest? I’m looking for powerful systems with a good battery life (3.5 hours min) of hopefully 6 hours. I don’t want a Celeron based system but I’d be happy with any of your suggestions.
Right now I’m looking at some Toshiba’s and their ‘M’ models look quite appealing but other brands like Acer, Asus, Dell, etc. would probably do fine too.
What I’m looking for:
- 1.7ghz+ processor
- wifi as well as a lan port (don’t really need the lan port)
- must have a dvd burner
- battery life of at least 3.5 hours
- 512mb ram
- 60gb minimum hdd (hoping for 100gb but okay with 80gb)
- a video card (intel integrated might do okay)
- soundcard doesn’t have to be great (integrated might also do okay)
- minimum 15.4″ screen
- don’t need a diskette drive
- windows xp home or pro (don’t need windows media centre)
Post the model numbers if you’ve got them too please! (eg Toshiba M70)
Any suggestions would be appreciated, I’m hoping to get one before January.
