What’s on the block

July 13th, 2005

Refer to this: e ghetto .net beta 3

– There will be normal (free accounts) and paid accounts (which won’t show up until we’re a bit bigger).
- The normal accounts will get 1mb or possibly 2mb of upload space for pictures and maybe even mp3s. There will be a verification process for the mp3s and the pictures will require an initial id check (e.g. you take a picture of yourself and your username).
- Everyone will get a blog/journal.
- People can specify who can read their journal entries!
- WYSIWYG journal editor (what you see is what you get, no need to use html)
- Everyone can upload 5 display pictures (100×100 icons that show up with your comments).
- Everyone can upload 5 profile pictures (this might be replaced with the 1mb/2mb thing).
- Users may setup blog communities.
- Current mood and current music.
Polls (maybe paid?).
- Obviously the paid account will have fewer limitations.
- Normal accounts will be able to choose from a variety of skins. These skins can be easily modified by users to suit their needs.
- Blogrolls/friends list for insite use and one for out of site use.
- Paid accounts may make their own skins.
- Bands will be allowed to upload their mp3s. (we’ll tinker around with the paid/free thing here).
- There will be a point system in place much like NF has and you can use these points for neat additions to your account and possibly get some material items with them.
- A Hot or Not type of thing will happen with the profile pictures.
- Possibility of audio blogging (paid only).
- E-mail blogging (paid… maybe).
- Search other blogs (free unless it strains the server).
- Random hidden things for people to discover.
- Smilies/emoticons.

Please comment with ideas and thoughts. And does someone want to write up a list of moods for the site?

ok, this is what i think.. i don’t think that there is any reason for people to have more than one display picture or profile picture, if they can change the ones they have whenever they want. right?
can people post pictures like on any other blog? because if so.. then why would they need to be able to have so many in their profile?

also i don’t think that current mood and music is all that necessary, because if someone thinks they have to display what they’re listening to, they can always add it at the bottom of their post.. and i think a person’s post should be a good enough display of their mood. know what i’m sayin’?

i actually think the hot or not thing is kinda cool, and i think the audio blogging is cool as well, even though i have never audio blogged before.. i think you need a microphone for that, right?

    Yes, mic needed.

Have you seen people comment on LiveJournal? They’re crazy. They like having multiple display pictures because some of them just post back and fourth to one another. They only have three though and we’re going for five.

The multiple profile pics are mainly for the hot or not part.

I like your ideas, keep talking.
